We are excited to have been invited to be part of the “Village Green” at the Jack Johnson’s upcoming concert at the River Stage – Botanical Gardens in Brisbane on 13 December 2010.

To celebrate the occasion we are having our first ever fundraiser on the 2nd December at Muooz Eritrean Restaurant in Moorooka.

On the night there will be a banquet feast of traditional Eritrean food catering for all palates, as well as Jack Johnson’s concert tickets as lucky door prices, raffles, silent auctions and exquisite entertainment by a selection of fine local artists.

If you would like to help us maximise this opportunity write down the date on your diary and stay tune for booking details. Given the short notice, if you can’t make it, please pass on the info through you networks and/or drop us a donation. There is a the opportunity that Jack’s charity org will match up the money we raise dollar for dollar, so the more the better.

We will be having a table at the Village Green tent on the concert day, coincidentally we are urgently looking for two awesome volunteers to attend our table. If you are keen send us an email gc@growingcommunities.org.au

Hope to see you at Muooz on the 2nd for a cultural experience, fundraiser end of year party celebration.

Unfortunately, this year’s Learning in the Garden Seminar originally scheduled for 6th October 2010 has been canceled.

After much thought and discussions we are forced to make this decision due to the large number of projects and commitments Growing Communities currently has, as well as circumstances outside our control affecting the event’s programing.

In the mean time we will be organising and programming the 2011 Learning in the Garden Seminar, which will happen in parallel with the 6th World Environmental Education Congress (WEEC) 19 – 23 July 2011 at Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre. More info at http://www.weec2011.org/

We’d like to frame the 2011 Learning in the Garden Seminar along the same themes as the 6th WEEC – Explore, Experience & Educate. We are keen to hear any ideas or suggestions that you would like included in next year’s event.

We are also considering organising an Australian School Garden Network gathering as part of next year’s seminar. It’s been more than 3 years since we last gathered the Australian school garden community and we think next year’s linking to an international event will be a great opportunity to do so again.

If you want to received update for this and other events, please leave us your details on the contact us page.

Thanks for all your understanding and support.

The LITG team.
On behalf of Growing Communities
